YOU NEED
violin
hi, i’m jess
25-odd years ago I told my Mum I wanted to play violin… Since then my musical journey has taken turns I would’ve never predicted for myself.
Classically trained, I graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Performance in Violin and Viola, before throwing caution to the wind and moving to London to study a Master’s in Experimental Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London, where I studied under Richard Jones (Pulp, Beth Gibbons, The Ligeti Quartet).
My musical philosophy is all about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible — the scope of the violin and viola extends far beyond what we traditionally know in classical music, and that’s exactly where I thrive.
From performing with orchestras to free-form experimental groups at iconic venues like Café OTO. From playing in local jazz / folk jams, to taking the stage with alt and punk bands at some of London’s best gig spots (The Windmill, The Lexington, Paper Dress Vintage), my range of experience has made me an inspired and adaptable musician.
I’ve recorded with artists all across the UK to help bring their tracks to life, and I continue to perform around Brighton with my own music and at private events, bringing my violin flair to every occasion.
MY Services
RECORDING
I offer unique and inspired violin and viola parts for artists, composers, and producers looking to add that extra something to their music. Turning ideas into reality is what I love to do.
Whether we’re creating cinematic textures, virtuosic melodies, or weaving abstract soundscapes, I collaborate closely with artists to bring tracks to life.
With years of experience as a performer, arranger, and recording artist across genres, anything is possible… from classical, jazz, folk, punk and beyond!
Remote sessions and full arrangement work are also available.
LESSONS
With over 15 years of experience, my lessons blend technique with creativity — encouraging students to explore their instrument and the music they enjoy, as much as precision and technique.
I work with all levels, from beginners to advanced players looking to expand their musical vocabulary, pursue AMEB exams or develop their own voice.
Lessons are curated around each student’s goals, whether it’s mastering classical foundations, learning to write music, or simply jamming to their favourite tunes.
30-minute or 1-hour lessons are available in person from my home studio in Brighton.
EVENTS
From intimate weddings and corporate events, to art installations and live concerts, I offer tailored performances that bring atmosphere, emotion, and artistry to any event.
Whether you want stunning classical pieces or the hits of today, think of me as your personal live jukebox, creating the perfect soundtrack for the moment.
With hundreds of live performances under my belt, I adapt to all moods and settings, with each performance crafted to leave a lasting impression.
Special requests welcome, Duo performances with acoustic guitar can also be arranged.
